What was the first record you ever got?

Was it a deluxe pressing of World Peace Is None Of Your Business? How about a hand-me-down Pink Floyd album from your dad? Or was it your favourite unsigned band’s debut album that you bought at their gig (signed of course, by the shy bassist you were in love with for years)? Or maybe you don’t have one?*

If you fall into the latter category, don’t panic! Today is record store day, where vinyl loving junkies head to their nearest LP shop to stock up on their old favourites and hunt for some rare beauties.

Sadly, Championship Vinyl doesn’t exist. But we are lucky enough to have Rockaboom, in the Malcolm Arcade. Word on the street is they’ve also prepared for this in advance, and have stocked up on all the latest releases.

So, why are you still reading this? Go snap up some up!

If you can’t make it over to the city today, the records from today’s listing will still be available.

Location: 18 Malcolm Arcade, Leicester city centre (It has moved from St Martin’s Square). Open until 5.30pm.

*In the interest of full disclosure, mine was a copy of Blondie’s classic album, Parallel Lines, which was bought for me at Rockaboom, coincidentally. It’s beautiful.
